Several types of hand sanitizers are available on the market, for example, liquid soaps with a disinfectant effect, which can only be used in places suitable for hand washing. These products must be applied to wet hands and then rinsed off with water after the exposure time has elapsed. The other solution is hand sanitizers that can be used without rinsing, they simply need to be applied to the surface of the hand and allowed to dry. Due to their alcohol content, this happens relatively quickly, in a few seconds. In the case of the latter, two types can be distinguished, one is gel-based hand sanitizers, the other is liquid-based hand sanitizers. The gel products are available in very small packages that can be carried in a bag or pocket, while the liquid products are only available in larger 500 ml, 1 liter, and 5 liter bottles. Both types can be used with both sensor and manual dispensers, but care must be taken to select the right type. The gels can be used with a dispenser suitable for dispensing liquid soap, while the liquid can be used in types equipped with a spray head. An important aspect when choosing a dispenser is the tightness of the device, as alcoholic preparations evaporate. The gel is therefore more prone to drying out.
