Standard hinged lid trash cans are inexpensive and therefore an excellent choice for schools, hospitals, etc. The hinged lid makes it easy to place trash inside, and then the lid closes automatically. The top of the trash cans with a snap-on lid must be manually pressed down to release the locking latch, after which the spring mechanism lifts the lid. To close, the lid must be pushed back into place. The latter solution is a bit more complicated, but it results in a more exclusive appearance and more precise closing.
