CHARACTERISTICS OF GARBAGE BAGS
Bags are available in various sizes and with material thicknesses adapted to a given size. A smaller household-sized garbage bag does not need to be too thick, since it is impossible to overload them with household waste due to the size limit. As the sizes increase, the material thickness also changes. The larger the size, the thicker the material is needed to withstand the waste placed inside. There are bags with a different material thickness than usual, such as bags suitable for storing construction debris. In case of individual needs, it is also possible to manufacture bags suitable for a given purpose. The cheapest garbage bags are made of black, recycled reg material. These typically have a good elongation value, so they do not tear even with minimal overload. Colored bags are usually more expensive, due to the coloring material and the type of material.
Premium quality bags are made of HDPE material, which is stronger than normal PE bags with the same material thickness. They are less elastic, therefore more sensitive to overload. Compared to regular bags, they do not have an unpleasant odor. They can be made with a sealing tape and with a normal tie.
DECOMPOSABLE GARBAGE BAGS
In the spirit of environmental awareness, biodegradable bags from renewable sources are gaining more and more popularity. One example is products made from corn starch. These compost in the ground within a few months. Their utility value is the same or better than that of bags made from the average regular material. They are available in the most commonly used sizes on the market.
Degradable laundry bags are also becoming increasingly popular on the market. They are made of PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) and decompose when exposed to moisture and heat. They are mainly used in laundries of healthcare institutions and social service centers. This avoids contact with contaminated, infected textiles. The bag can be placed in the washing machine together with the textiles.
When choosing bags, you should consider the dimensions of the trash can. Generally, you should choose a larger size so that it can be folded back onto the rim. This will prevent it from slipping into the trash can and the waste from dirtying the side walls.
